Civikor Consultant Private Limited was engaged as the Project Management Consultant for the execution supervision of a Road Widening and Minor Bridge Development Project.
Although the project’s DPR had been prepared by a third-party consultant, Civikor undertook a comprehensive technical and strategic review during the mobilisation phase to validate design assumptions, regulatory compliance, and long-term execution feasibility.
During technical review and site assessment, Civikor identified critical discrepancies within the originally proposed project framework:
Bridge design needed statutory proof checking. The bridge design included in the DPR required proof checking and approval from VJTI prior to execution.
Major observations from VJTI. Technical scrutiny by VJTI resulted in major observations, necessitating a structural redesign of the bridge system.
Width short of the Development Plan. The DPR proposed a carriageway of 12 m to 18 m, while the sanctioned Development Plan (DP) defines the corridor as a 24 m wide road.
Conflict with long-term planning. The reduced width conflicted with long-term urban mobility planning and future infrastructure requirements.
Recognising the strategic importance of optimising the project before execution, Civikor delivered a multi-disciplinary intervention involving technical validation, stakeholder management and design enhancement:
Spearheaded the initiation and coordination process for bridge proof checking with VJTI.
Managed redesign and engineering modifications of the bridge structure in line with VJTI’s technical observations.
Secured proof-checking approval for the revised bridge design, ensuring statutory and structural compliance.
Conducted detailed corridor-level site verification to assess the feasibility of achieving the full 24 m DP road width.
Validated the absence of major physical encroachments within the proposed widening alignment.
Coordinated with industrial stakeholders for the voluntary adjustment of minor structures and landscaped areas within municipal boundaries.
Recommended and enabled execution planning for the revised 24 m road development strategy.
